Boston Mills Artfest
I had a wonderful time at the 50th Anniversary Boston Mills Artfest! It was so great to see previous customers who purchased my items and meet many new folks! I am also proud and pleased to say that my black and navy silk scarf resulted in an Honorable Mention!

Summer shows
It is hard to believe that summer has flown by already! I had a booth for my weavings at 2 shows this summer. In June, I had a great show in Chagrin Falls at the Art by the Falls. It was a beautiful weekend and I met many wonderful people. After the show, I was invited to add some pieces to the Valley Art Center Gift Shop in Chagrin Falls, OH. Stop in and check out all the beautiful handmade gifts!
The second show was Hudson’s Art by the JoAnn Green. Again we were blessed with wonderful weather - not too hot, not to chilly, and dry! I was pleased to receive an Honorable Mention by the judge! There were over 145 artists, with 12 ribbons awarded. Again, I met many art folks. I was invited to add some pieces to an upscale gallery in Cuyahoga Falls, and participate in a holiday art show next year in downtown Cleveland. Quite a few people asked me if I teach weaving. Maybe another new adventure!
Spring update
Spring is upon us and the beautiful weather means colorful inspiration for weaving! I have art fairs lined up for June, July and August. They are Art by the Falls in Chagrin Falls, the Cain Park Art Festival in Cleveland Hts, and Art on the Green in Hudson. I am adding more wearables such as ruanas and ponchos to complement my scarves and shawls. No one can have too many scarves or shawls, but wearables add variety to one’s wardrobe. There are pictures in the scarves and shawls sect
I have been learning and enjoying my new 32 shaft AVL loom. I wove one long piece of southwest themed color that works particularly well on 25 shafts. It was a learning curve but fun every step of the way,
Art by the Falls
I am looking forward to participating in Art by the Falls in Chagrin Falls, OH again this summer- June 10-11. I have been weaving away to create more wearables this year, along with scarves and shawls.
Blankets!
It all begins with an idea.
Spring has arrived, although it is still darn cold here in NE Ohio. I have made several super cozy and warm blankets out of a yarn called Noro Transitions. Unfortunately, this yarn has been discontinued, but I stocked up on it when I found a supplier who had several skeins left. The yarn is a blend of mostly wool with silk, cashmere, angora, camel and alpaca fibers. We bundle up with the blankets on chilly evenings. The second the dachshunds see the blanket, they are jumping onto our laps and burrowing underneath.
Welcome
Weaving is therapy!
Welcome to my website and blog! I am excited, and a bit scared to be starting a blog and website for my business, Misty Dawn Handwovens. I have been weaving since late 2017 and love creating colorful, useful and unusual, one of a kind items. I recently decided to close my Etsy shop as I found it is best to share my products in person, or on a personal website. I can share the inspiration and process of my weaving adventures. I will be adding items for sale in the near future. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy visiting this site!
